We built Uzhavu Link — a bilingual (Tamil + English) Flutter mobile application that eliminates the traditional middlemen chain between small-scale farmers and urban or semi-urban consumers across Tamil Nadu.
The Problem
Small farmers in Tamil Nadu typically lose 30–60% of their produce price to commission agents and aggregators. Consumers simultaneously pay inflated market prices for the same fresh produce. There was no simple, localized mobile tool that let both sides transact directly in their own language.
The Solution: Dual Role App
A single Flutter application with two distinct role-based flows — chosen at first login:
🧑🌾 Farmer Flow (Screenshots 1–5)
- Role Onboarding: Farmers register with their mobile number and select the Farmer role. Google Phone Auth provides one-tap number pre-fill for frictionless signup.
- Farmer Dashboard (விவசாயி மையம்): A clean overview of all active product listings with live price-per-kg and verification status, rendered in Tamil script with English identifiers.
- Add New Product Listing: Farmers capture up to 3 product photos, enter produce name (Tamil + English via Tunglish toggle), select variety (Native/Hybrid), category (Vegetables, Fruits, Grains), and perishability, then set weight and base price per kg.
- Sales & Wallet: Farmers track completed order earnings and pending payouts in a dedicated wallet dashboard.
🛍️ Consumer Flow (Screenshots 6–7)
- Uzhavu Bazaar Marketplace: Consumers browse the live marketplace grid of fresh produce listed directly by farmers — each card shows produce photo, name, rate per kg, and available weight.
- My Basket & Checkout: Consumers add items to basket, review their order, and confirm placement directly to the farmer.
- Order History: A full log of past and active orders with status tracking.
👤 Shared Screens (Screenshots 8–9)
- User Profile: Account details and role management shared across both Farmer and Consumer users.
- App Settings: Language preference toggle (Tamil ⇄ English), notification preferences, and account controls.
